Any word on what his boo boo is? This is not a good time of year for Datsyuk to be getting sore...

Strange line combos tonight lol...Babcock is the master of the confusing lines. Personally I would prefer Tatar helm cole and Jurco sheahan pulkinen but...it is what it is. When healthy...

Goose,Z,Cole
Tatar,Pav,Abby
Helm,Shea,Pulks
Miller,Glen,Jurco

Gives us some grit on each line. I wish Jurco could have a bigger opportunity but we are pretty deep ATM. It's hard enough having those 3 guys on the third line cause IMO they are 2/3rd line at least

beats Pitts 5-1 and poops the bed against the panthers.

why wouldnt they.
I think I will just stop watching them until the playoffs start. Nothing is going right for them lately.

although true, still hard to watch. At least Boston lost -- I just hate watching all of these other teams play hard and have results, while the Wings play 15-45mins per game.

Yeah. I would have liked to see a better effort but I don't think it was an awful showing. Couple of softies from Mrazek. Hit at least 3 posts. Luongo played well. One of those games where neither team really outplayed the other, so the difference ended up being an inch here, an inch there.

Still frustrating to see the team idling, standings-wise. In the long run it probably won't matter since the Wings are unlikely to finish anywhere but 3rd in the Atlantic anyway, but each loss makes it less likely we'll get home ice in the first round, and cracks the opening for Boston or Ottawa just a bit wider.

All in all we likely aren't making a cup run so honestly I'm just gonna enjoy watching some hockey. Wings are still a top 4 D and a top 6 forward away from being dominant. They are kind of in a weird spot with a bunch of prospects on the cusp but no real stars in their prime. They can't fit them all so at some point they should be packaged

Yeah, if it were possible to snap your fingers and instantly make Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Nyquist, Tatar, Kronwall, Zidlicky, and Mrazek the 27-year-old versions of themselves (whether you have to go to the past or the future to do it) this would be a unbelievable team. We're going to look back at this roster 20 years from now and think "how were they not dominant?" but the problem is that nobody's the correct age right now.

In other news, Jagr is still really good. I mean he's not an all-star anymore but he's still an even-strength possession machine, super strong on the puck, and a legitimate secondary scoring threat. I got teased a little bit for wanting the Wings to trade for him at the deadline, but as a one-season rental I would still rather have 43-year-old Jagr than 36-year-old Erik Cole, and they ultimately went for about the same price. Plus it's always cool to be able to watch a living legend play for your team, even if he's literally 15 years past his prime.
